Hampton senior Anastasia Russ is a member of the Pitt women’s volleyball recruiting class that received a national ranking for the first time in program history.
The rankings, assembled by PrepVolleyball, were released Tuesday, and the seven-member class is No. 19 in the nation.
A panel of college coaches representing all three NCAA divisions determined the rankings list.
“This is the most complete incoming class we’ve ever had, adding depth to every position on the court,” Panthers head coach Dan Fisher said Tuesday in a release.
Pitt won its second straight Atlantic Coast Conference championship in 2018.
The Panthers finished the season 30-2 overall and 17-1 in conference matches. They advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Michigan in five sets.
Russ, a middle hitter who also played for Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Club, earned AVCA Under Armour All-American honors in 2018. She was a three-time section, WPIAL and state all-star for the Talbots.
