Hanna Green continued her preparation for the world championships in Doha, Qatar on Saturday by winning the women’s 800-meter dash at the IAAF Diamond League event in Paris.
Green, a Latrobe native and Virginia Tech graduate, beat Jamaica’s Natoya Goule for her first Diamond League victory. Her time was 1 minute, 58.59 seconds. The win also earned her a spot in the Diamond League final.
She finished as the runner-up at the national championships last month and will represent the U.S. at the world championships. Her time at the nationals was 1:58.39.
Green graduated from Latrobe in 2013 as one of the top 400-meter runners in the state.
When she graduated from Virginia Tech, she was an elite NCAA Division I 800-meter runner.
Instead of retiring from running, Green decided she wanted to continue to run and train, so she moved to Oregon.
