The 119th USGA Amateur Championship begins Monday at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in North Carolina, and five Western Pennsylvania golfers, including three from Hannastown Golf Club, will be participating.

The tournament takes place on Course No. 2 and No. 4.

Murrysville native Palmer Jackson, who recently posted seven consecutive rounds in the 60s and won the Hannastown Club Championship, headlines the local golfers. Jackson is one of 14 players who participated in the 2019 U.S. Junior Amateur.

He’ll be joined by club members Sean Knapp, the 2017 USGA Senior Amateur winner and the 2018 Senior Amateur runner-up, and Mark Goetz. Also entered are Connor Schmidt of Peters Township and Trent Karlik.

At 57, Knapp is also the oldest player in the 312-player field and is one of three seniors who played in the 2019 U.S. Senior Open.

Jackson, Goetz and Karlik qualified at Quicksilver Golf Club at Midway, and Schmidt qualified at Edgewood Country Club in Sissonville, W.Va. Knapp received an exemption.
