How skill positions in NFL Draft will impact fantasy owners
Our Essey Tire fantasy sports podcast examines the first round of the NFL Draft and how some of these incoming rookies will impact your fantasy leagues.
With six receivers taken in the first round and a run on running backs expected in the second round, the answer is: significantly!
Jeff Erickson of RotoWire joins me to talk about which of those pass catchers may stand out the most in their rookie seasons. And we speculate about who may be left for the Steelers in Round 2.
Jeff sees Kansas City’s selection of LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire as a potentially huge development on the fantasy front. We discuss why and which running backs could remain for the Steelers.
The three quarterbacks at the top of the draft will alter the courses of their franchises for better or worse — Joe Burrow (Bengals), Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins), and Justin Herbert (Chargers). Jeff ranks for us which quarterbacks he feels will do the most good for their teams this year and over the lengths of their careers.
Jordan Love is in the quarterback mix, too. The Utah State signal-caller is heading out to Green Bay to — presumably — back up Aaron Rogers. But for how long? Jeff and I look at that angle, too.
We also talk about how the draft was staged, the absence of tight ends and a coup for the Baltimore Ravens on defense.
