Shady Side Academy graduate Skyy Moore, a New Kensington native, hosted his fourth annual Before Your Eyes Summer Jam event Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Valley High School. The event included a football tournament.

Sunday marked the fourth time Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore gave back to his hometown of New Kensington. He returns each time for the kids, hoping to inspire the younger generation.

“It’s all about the kids that look up to me,” Moore said. “For everybody that had a part in my journey, I just wanted to come back and always show my love.”

Moore, who played high school football at Shady Side Academy, hosted his fourth annual Before Your Eyes Summer Jam event, which took place at Valley High School for the first time.

All of the proceeds from the event will benefit Ar-Ken Youth Football, the league where Moore’s journey began.

“That’s where I grew up and also where a lot of these kids are growing up, and I want to keep that around for as long as possible,” Moore said.

This year’s format was different than previous years. The 2024 event took place at Barnes Street Downtown Playground for a basketball tournament, but this year it was a 1-on-1 football tournament.

“This is Western Pennsylvania, and we’re a football city,” Moore said on switching the event. “We don’t have too many hoopers in the area, but football is something for sure that people will show up for.”

Participants were split up among the different age groups, with one section being for high school-aged kids and up and the other being the elementary to middle school age group.

When Moore arrived at Valley High School a little before 2 p.m., he was surprised to see so many people come out to the event.

“I tried to not have too many expectations,” Moore said. “I’m super pleased with what I see so far, and it’s a day of love and I’m happy that I can come out here and everybody can share that love with me.”

The parking lot was packed with cars as fans and participants anticipated Moore’s arrival. Along with the football tournament, there were bounce houses, merchandise and food from the event’s official sponsor, WingStop.

“I definitely want to thank everybody that came out,” Moore said. “I want to thank WingStop and all of the small businesses that came out today as well.”

New Kensington Mayor Tom Guzzo was also at the event, speaking highly of what he has seen from Moore and the community impact he provides.

“He gives back to the community every year,” Guzzo said. “It’s not all about being a Super Bowl champion. It’s about being a professional who comes back to help the kids and his town, and we’re proud of him.”

Speaking of the Super Bowl, Moore is a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs, with three appearances in the championship game in his first three years in the NFL.

“He brings his rings, and if you get the chance to see them, they’re ridiculous,” Guzzo joked.

The event was rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday because of rain on Saturday.
