Injured Pittsburgh Penguins forwards Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin each rejoined their teammates for a practice session in Cranberry on Sunday.
Both players participated in a full-contact fashion but remain “day to day” due to undisclosed injuries, which have sidelined them as of late.
Their statuses for Monday’s consequential road game against the Metropolitan Division rival New York Islanders remain uncertain.
Coach Dan Muse indicated Crosby would travel to Long Island, while Malkin’s travel plans were to be determined.
Crosby was scratched during a 6-3 home loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday after he suffered an undisclosed injury during a 4-3 road shootout win against the Ottawa Senators.
Malkin has been scratched for three consecutive games due to his malady.
Crosby and Malkin operated in their typical stations as the first-line center and second-line right winger, respectively. While Crosby left practice after approximately one hour and spoke with reporters afterward, Malkin remained on the ice for an extended period of time and worked out with reserve defensemen Jack St. Ivany and Ilya Solovyov.
Notes:
• Penguins forwards Noel Acciari and Bryan Rust were absent from practice for what was termed as “maintenance.” Both players are scheduled to travel for Monday’s game.

• Rookie forward Ville Koivunen mixed in on the top line in place of Mantha.
• Solovyov and St. Ivany rotated on a fourth defensive pairing along with defenseman Ryan Graves.
