Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler are seen during a 2017 ESPN’s College GameDay show at Times Square in New York City.

One fan who showed up for ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday, like many others, brought a sign and hoped to get it on the broadcast.

His sign simply said, “Busch Light supply needs replenished” and provided a Venmo account to send money to. He thought he’d gets some laughs and a few dollars.

He ended up with $8,000. And then some.

Carson King, a 24-year-old Iowa State fan from Altoona, Iowa, said that after the sign appeared on the broadcast, his phone started to go off.

“I looked down at my phone. My friend kept asking ‘Hey man, who keeps texting you?’ and I looked down and I had about $400 on my Venmo account,” King told WHO-TV in Des Moines. “I had people from Texas, Idaho, California, Massachusetts, all over. A lot of Clemson people donated. I guess they like Busch Light, too.”

According to a Facebook post, he decided to put the money to a good use: buy a case of beer and send the rest to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City.

Busch Beer is also pitching in and matching King’s donation to the hospital.

.@CarsonKing2 this is the best thing we have read all year, we’re inspired.

We’re going to match your donation to University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, and we’ll throw in some of that Busch Light you were looking for. https://t.co/NPPrPp6zJg
