Spring sports teams at Seton Hill felt they had plenty to prove after their 2020 seasons were sawed short because of the pandemic. Many of them have used this year to take out pent up frustration, and it led to conference titles, national rankings and potentially pending success in the postseason.

It’s been one big talent show on “The Hill.”

The Griffins’ baseball, softball and lacrosse teams all clinched conference championships during a prosperous regular season.

Even through covid-19 shutdowns, the teams have persevered.

The baseball team is having one of its best seasons — on pace for the best. The Griffins are 27-4 (19-4 PSAC) with four regular season games remaining.

Ranked seventh nationally in Division II, the PSAC West champs are No. 1 in the NCBWA Atlantic Region.

The PSAC West champion softball team (28-10, 25-7) was set to open the PSAC playoffs Wednesday afternoon at home with the first two games of a best-of-3 series against Mercyhurst.

Men’s lacrosse (10-1, 5-1), ranked No. 5 in the USILA Division II Coaches Poll, opened the G-MAC tournament playoffs Wednesday morning at home against Walsh.

And the women’s lacrosse team took a 12-1 record (10-0 PSAC) into its conference tournament home opener Wednesday against Mercyhurst. The Griffins are No. 22 in this week’s IWLCA Division II Poll.
