IUP basketball teams No. 5 this week in their respective national rankings
The Indiana University men’s and women’s basketball teams both find themselves in the top five of their respective national Division II polls this week.
For the first time since last February, the Crimson Hawks women are ranked in the top five as they are No. 5 in the latest Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released Tuesday.
They moved up one spot after defeating Clarion 82-50 on Saturday to tie a program record with their 16th straight victory.
IUP now is 18-1 overall with a 13-0 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
The top four teams in the poll remain the same: No. 1 Drury (19-0), No. 2 Ashland (19-0), No. 3 Grand Valley State (18-1) and No. 4 Texas A&M-Commerce (19-0).
IUP hosts Seton Hill (12-6, 7-6 PSAC) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

IUP (17-1, 12-1 PSAC) is back in the top five for the first time since December. It owns an eight-game winning streak that includes wins over Pitt-Johnstown (100-93) and Clarion (82-71) last week.
Northwest Missouri State (18-1) is the new No. 1 team after previous No. 1., Bellarmine, suffered its first loss of the season.
Lincoln Memorial (19-1) is No. 2, followed by No. 3 West Texas A&M (19-1) and No. 4 UC San Diego (19-1).
PSAC East rival Shippensburg (16-3) also is in this week’s top 25 rankings at No. 24. Pitt-Johnstown (16-4) is the fifth team in the receiving votes category.
The IUP men host Seton Hill (3-13, 2-11 PSAC) on Wednesday at 7:30.
