The road to the Elite Eight will run through Indiana.

IUP made it a double-dip for No. 1 seeds Sunday night when the NCAA announced pairings for the Division II men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.

Both IUP teams earned top seeds and home games in the Atlantic Regional, which means the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex will be a busy place next weekend.

The Crimson Hawks men, who defeated Shippensburg for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title Sunday, 77-59, will host Winston-Salem (19-10) on Friday. IUP has made the NCAA Tournament 10 times in the last 12 seasons.

Also at IUP, No. 4 Shippensburg (24-7) will take on No. 5 Fairmont State (23-7).

West Liberty, another NCAA qualifier from the PSAC, also will serve as a host site. The No. 2 seed will play No. 7 Virginia State (19-9).

Three women’s teams from the PSAC also will begin play in the NCAA Tournament. IUP and Gannon will serve as host sites in the opening round.

IUP held on to the top No. 1 seed despite falling to Gannon Sunday in the conference title game, 50-40.

On Friday, IUP (28-3) will welcome No. 8 Fayetteville State (21-8), while No. 7 Cal U (21-9) will visit No. 2 Gannon (25-6).

IUP has made the NCAA Tournament 11 times in the last 14 years and has reached the Final Four two years in a row.
