After a 24-13 victory over New Haven, the Crimson Hawks moved into the No. 24 spot in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

Duane Brown (Apollo-Ridge) scored a pair of touchdowns and Justice Evans (Kiski Area/Central Catholic) added another and the Crimson Hawks intercepted two passes in the season-opening triumph.

New Haven opened the season as the favorite in the Northeast Conference. The national top five is Valdosta State (1-0), Ferris State (1-0), Minnesota State (1-0), Notre Dame, Ohio (1-0) and Tarleton State (1-0).

Two other PSAC schools are ranked. Slippery Rock (1-0) is No. 11 and West Chester (1-0) is No. 19.
