IUP is headed back to the NCAA Division II Final Four.
The Crimson Hawks women built a 10-point lead by halftime and cruised past Azusa Pacific (Calif.), 73-60, in the Elite Eight on Tuesday at Old Dominion in Columbus, Ohio.
Carolyn Appleby (Greensburg Central Catholic) scored a team-high 17 points, and Lexi Griggs (Vincentian) and Lauren Wolosik (North Catholic) had 16 apiece to pace IUP (30-3), which advances to play Southwestern Oklahoma State (34-1) at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals.
Brittany Robinson added 11 points, nine rebounds and six blocks for IUP, which made nine 3-pointers, forced 17 turnovers and made 12 of 13 free throws. Appleby and Wolosik had five assists each.
Azusa had four players score in double figures, led by Daylee Hanson with 14.
