IUP women No. 4 in final WBCA coaches poll

The Indiana University of Pennsylvania women’s basketball team finished its season ranked fourth in the final Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll released Sunday.

The Crimson Hawks found themselves in the top five 15 of the 18 weeks and spent three weeks at No. 1.

IUP finished 30-4 overall and advanced to the national semifinals of the Elite Eight for the second year in a row.

The Crimson Hawks captured the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division regular-season title, the PSAC tournament championship and their second straight NCAA Atlantic Region crown.

PSAC rival Cal U (Pa.), which also advanced to the regional tournament, finished its season 26-6 overall and ranked No. 21.

The Crimson Hawks defeated the Vulcans 68-60 in Atlantic Regional title game.
