IUP women's basketball up one spot in WBCA national rankings
The Indiana University of Pennsylvania women’s basketball team ticked up one spot to No. 3 in the latest Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll released Tuesday.
The Crimson Hawks (20-1) have won five games in a row, including recent victories over Slippery Rock (88-51) and Gannon (66-52). They are the first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women’s team to reach 20 victories.
IUP remains the only team in Division II to be ranked in the top five in every WBCA national poll this season.
Drury (23-0) stays at No. 1 with all 24 first-place votes, and UC San Diego (20-0) is No. 2. Rounding out the top five are Fort Hays State (21-1) at No. 4 and University of the Sciences (22-1) at No. 5.
Cal (Pa.), at 18-3 overall, is the only other PSAC school in the top 25. The Vulcans are No. 21 this week.
