IUP women’s soccer coach Adel Heder gets call to hall

Longtime IUP women’s soccer coach Adel Heder will be inducted into the PA West Yough Soccer Hall of Fame.

Heder, who has WPIAL ties, will join four other inductees at a ceremony Jan. 4 at the PA West Soccer Awards Gala at the DoubleTree Hotel in Green Tree.

The boys soccer coach at Kiski Area from 1987-2001, Heder has led the IUP women since 2001 and has guided the Crimson Hawks to 14 playoff appearances in the PSAC.

He has a program-record 212 wins and won a conference title in 2004.

Heder formed the Kiski Area Soccer Club and coached various age groups in the Pennsylvania West Olympic Development program and the state select Pittsburgh Strikers Soccer Club.

Additional inductees are Ron Hitchens, Delroy “Lucky” Russell, John Kowalski and Peggy Neason.
