Franklin Regional graduate Palmer Jackson’s journey in the United States Golf Association’s Junior Match Play Championship at Inverness Club on Thursday in Toledo, Ohio came to an end in Round of 16.

After the future Notre Dame golfer won his first match of the day, he lost a 19-hole decision to Kelly Chinn of Great Falls, Va.

Jackson bogeyed the par-4 No. 1 — the first hole of the playoff — and Chinn managed par for the win.

Earlier in the day, Jackson used a par on the 17th hole in the Round of 32 to defeat Michael Thorbjornsen, 1-up.

Birdies on Nos. 8 and 9 allowed Jackson to take a 2-up lead in the morning match, but Thorbjornsen tied the match with a birdie on No. 15.

Jackson, who was 1-under, took the lead with a par on No. 17.
