Penguins winger Jake Guentzel is named the No. 1 star after a hat trick against Boston on April 22, 2022.

The trade of popular winger Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes for a package of players and draft picks left a sour taste in the mouths of many Penguins fans Thursday night.

Imagine how the folks at The Milkshake Factory felt.

The sweet shop with 11 locations in Western Pennsylvania has run a popular promotion since 2018 where customers can receive a signature Jake’s Shake for 50% off the day after Guentzel scored a goal.

After the trade was made official late Thursday, The Milkshake Factory announced it would be holding one last Jake Shake Friday.

At noon at the downtown location at PNC Plaza, a Jake’s Shake jersey will be retired and raised to the rafters and the first 50 customers through the door will receive a Jake’s Shake T-shirt.

A Jake Shake includes hot fudge, cookies and cream and brownies with a drizzle of fudge and caramel, whipped topping and a chocolate in the shape of Guentzel’s No. 59.
