Running back James Conner, cornerback Joe Haden and linebacker Vince Williams were starters who sat out Pittsburgh Steelers practice Wednesday because of injury.
Backups/special teamers Roosevelt Nix and Antony Chickillo also sat out of the first session of the week in preparation for Sunday’s game at the San Francisco 49ers. Nix is in crutches because of a knee injury, and Chickillo has plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
Haden practiced only once last week after suffering a sprained AC joint during Week 1’s game, but he played during the loss against Seattle in Week 2. Conner (knee) and Williams (hamstring) were injured during that game. Conner said he expects to play this coming Sunday.
Tight end Vance McDonald (back) was listed as a limited practice participant on the league-mandated injury report.
