James Washington added to Steelers’ injury report; Cameron Sutton remains out
Another week, another wide receiver injured for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
James Washington was added to the league-mandated injury report Thursday because of a groin ailment. He was designated as a limited practice participant, indicating the injury occurred during practice.
Of the Steelers’ top four wide receivers, Washington is the fourth to suffer an injury over the past 18 days. Diontae Johnson had a knee injury that prevented him from playing in the Sept. 26 loss to Cincinnati, JuJu Smith-Schuster left that game because of a rib injury, and Chase Claypool did not play in this past Sunday’s loss at Green Bay.
Claypool on Thursday was a limited practice participant. Smith-Schuster was upgraded to a full participant.
The prospects for cornerback Cameron Sutton to play in Sunday’s home game against Denver appear grim. Sutton has not yet practiced this week because of a groin injury.
Three starting offensive linemen listed on the report all practiced fully Thursday – guards Trai Turner (illness) and Kevin Dotson (hip) and tackle Chuks Okorafor (concussion). Dotson sat out Wednesday’s practice and Turner was limited.
The Steelers’ respective captains on offense and defense – quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and defensive lineman Cameron Heyward – each practiced fully Thursday. Heyward said he has been dealing with a neck injury for a while; Roethlisberger has pectoral and hip injuries.
Backup offensive lineman Rashaad Coward (ankle) and rotational defensive lineman Carlos Davis (knee) did not practice.
