SUNRISE, Fla. – Penguins forward Jared McCann is expected to be in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Florida Panthers at the BB&T Center according to coach Mike Sullivan.

McCann missed Saturday’s 3-0 home loss to the Vegas Golden Knights due to an undisclosed ailment. Sullivan said the injury which sidelined him on Saturday was different from the ailment which forced him to miss Wednesday’s 3-2 overtime home win against the Colorado Avalanche.

In seven games this season, McCann, who has been serving as the second-line center in the absence of forward Evgeni Malkin, has four points (three goals, one assist).

Matt Murray is expected to start against the Panthers. In seven games this season, he has a 5-2-0 record with a 2.56 goals against average and .914 save percentage.

Presumably, with games on back-to-back nights, backup goaltender Tristan Jarry will start Wednesday’s road game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Notes:

• While Penguins canceled their morning skate, Murray, Jarry did take the ice along with forwards Nick Bjugstad and Bryan Rust as well as defensemen Juuso Riikola and Chad Ruhwedel. Bjugstad and Rust are on injured reserve while Riikola and Ruhwedel are expected to be healthy scratches.

• Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck, a native of Upper St. Clair, is not expected to play due to an undisclosed injury. He did not practice on Friday and did not participate in Tuesday’s morning skate.

• Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to play in net for the Panthers.

• Forward Brian Boyle is expected to make his debut for the Panthers. He was signed to a one-year contract worth a prorated $940,000 on Sunday. A veteran of 12 NHL seasons, Boyle 34, has played in 722 career games and has scored 216 points.

• Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad has played in 399 career games.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
