Kennedy took another big step toward making his dream come true Tuesday when he committed to play his fifth and final collegiate season at North Carolina State.

Wednesday is the first of the NCAA’s three-day early signing period. Kennedy, a safety who graduated after playing two years at Old Dominion, worked his way to two recent Power 5 offers, from N.C. State and Boston College.
After a visit to N.C. State over the weekend, he told them to book him a room. He is coming to the Atlantic Coast Conference.
“This opportunity is huge for me,” Kennedy told 247sports.com. “Just having one year left and trying to get to the NFL, this is literally all I could hope for right here.
“They have five DBs on the field at all times. Me being a versatile defensive back, I feel like this is a match made in heaven, to be honest.”
Kennedy (5-10, 185) entered the NCAA transfer portal for a third time. The other two times were when he left Lackawanna, a junior college in Scranton, to play at East Carolina, where he played five games in 2020.
He finished this season fifth on the team with 52 tackles, 33 solo, and had an interception, six pass breakups and two forced fumbles for the Monarchs (3-9).
