Houston Astros prospect JJ Matijevic enjoyed his first Double-A home run so much on Monday that he belted another one Tuesday night.
The former Norwin and Arizona star sent a 1-1 pitch climbing down the first base line and off the foul pole as the Corpus Christi Hooks beat Northwest Arkansas, 12-3, at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas.
In the previous game, the 23-year-old went opposite field for his first homer, a two-run shot in a 7-4 loss to the Naturals.
Matijevic, who has been playing some first base and outfield for the Hooks, finished last season with the Buies Creek Astros of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League. He began the season with the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Class A Midwest League.
He batted .277 with 22 home runs and 62 RBIs in his pre-Double A days.
So far this season, in 17 games, he is hitting .269 (18 for 67) with 11 runs, five doubles, and seven RBIs.
