Cornerback Joe Haden and center Maurkice Pouncey are in uniform and activated to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers in their home opener Sunday afternoon against the Seattle Seahawks.
Haden (shoulder) and Pouncey (ankle) did not practice until Friday this past week after each had suffered an injury late in last week’s season-opening loss at the New England Patriots. Pouncey on Friday definitively assured reporters he would play Sunday; Haden sounded less sure, citing hindrances in tackling.
After missing the opener because of an ankle injury, starting free safety returns to the lineup in Week 2. With the exception of little-used fullback Roosevelt Nix, the Steelers are completely healthy for Sunday’s game.
The healthy inactives are rookies Fred Johnson, Justin Layne, Isaiah Buggs and Zach Gentry, second-year offensive tackle Chuks Okorafor and newly signed outside linebacker Jayrone Elliott.
