Josh Dobbs thanks Pittsburgh after Steelers trade him to Jaguars
Josh Dobbs checked in from Jacksonsville, but wanted to say thanks to Pittsburgh before he got to work new his new team.
On Monday, the former backup quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers posted a thank you note to his official Instagram page, “All love for the Burgh! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to start my career! Excited for new beginnings!”

A few teammates and players wished him well.
Steelers teammate Ryan Shazier wrote “Bald brother I’m going to miss you.”
Other teammates, including linebackers T.J. Watt and Olasunkanmi Adeniyi, running back James Conner, cornerback Mike Hilton, defensive end Tyson Alualu, posted a “Ball Out” message.
Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds and running back Trey Edmunds shared a blessed emojis.
Tackle Chukwuma Okorafor wrote, “don’t forget about me.”
Former NFL wide receiver Donte Stallworth posted, “Lets goooooooo.”
And Boston Celtics player Grant Williams shared, “… we had just said something about it too. Good luck bro much success.”
Dobbs was traded to the Jacksonsville Jaguars Monday for a fifth-round pick in the 2020 draft.
The Jaguars were thin at quarterback after losing starting qb Nick Foles to a broken clavicle injury in a home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1. Dobbs will backup rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew, the Jaguars’ sixth-round pick.
When the Steelers named rookie Mason Rudolph the No. 2 quarterback at the end of preseason, Dobbs fell to the No. 3 spot. Dobbs was a fourth-round pick in 2017 and had climbed to the No. 2 spot last season.
Speaking to the media Monday, Rudolph said Dobbs had come through to say goodbye to teammates and coaches earlier.
“That’s the kind of guy he is, a first-class dude,” Rudolph said.
Dobbs appeared in five regular-season games last season, completing 6 of his 12 pass attempts for 43 yards, an interception and no touchdowns.
The trade also opened the return of quarterback Devlin Hodges to the Steelers practice squad.
