Coach Mike Tomlin indicated there was a chance that his pair of injured Pro Bowl skill-position players could return to action this week. Wednesday’s official injury report provided more encouraging news.
Receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and running back James Conner each was a full participant in the first Pittsburgh Steelers practice of the week Wednesday. Conner has missed five of the past six games because of a shoulder injury and Smith-Schuster has sat out the past three games because of a knee injury.
Conner’s return could come at an opportune time because backup Jaylen Samuels sat out Wednesday’s practice because of a groin injury.
Tight end Vance McDonald also did not practice and is in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
