Western Pennsylvania’s storied football history is chronicled in a first-of-its-kind NFL Films documentary to be screened at Kamin Science Center for the next two months.
“The Football Town” is a nearly 50-minute documentary narrated by Plum native Pat McAfee and featuring appearances by Pittsburgh Steelers legends Bill Cowher, Jerome Bettis, James Harrison and Joey Porter Sr., among others. The film premiers Feb. 28 and runs only at the science center’s Rangos Giant Cinema in the weeks leading to the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh on April 23-25, according to an announcement Wednesday.
“Pittsburgh is a special place, one that helped build America and America’s game,” Keith Cossrow, NFL Films vice president and head of content, said in a statement. “NFL Films has been searching for the perfect subject for our first immersive-format documentary, and we found it in Western Pennsylvania.”
The documentary was created in partnership with the Steelers, VisitPittsburgh and U.S. Steel.
“The 2026 NFL Draft gives our region an unprecedented opportunity to share Pittsburgh’s football history and the legendary athletes who have shaped it,” said Steelers vice president Dan Rooney, co-chair of the 2026 NFL Draft Football Legacy Committee. “We were honored to work with NFL Films to celebrate the contributions of Hall of Famers and local football icons from our region. With this film, we hope to inspire future generations, instill community pride and highlight Pittsburgh’s unique place in the history of the game.”
Tickets will be available on the Kamin Science Center website starting Feb. 13.
