Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Keeanu Benton sacks New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers during an Oct. 20 game at Acrisure Stadium. Benton was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice because of a hip injury.

Starting defensive tackle Keeanu Benton was a mid-week add to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ league-mandated injury report, listed as a limited participant at Thursday’s practice because of a hip injury.

Benton did not finish the Nov. 17 win against the Baltimore Ravens because of an unspecified lower-body injury, but he was not on the injury report the ensuing week and played during a loss at the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 21. It is not immediately clear if Benton’s hip injury is related to what happened late in the Baltimore game.

Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith on Thursday was regarded as a practice participant for the first time since suffering a “low” ankle sprain during a Nov. 10 win at the Washington Commanders. Highsmith, though, had a “limited” designation.

Also limited because of injury was the pair of players who remain on injured reserve: defensive back Cory Trice (hamstring) and defensive lineman Montravius Adams (knee).

Safety Damontae Kazee missed Thursday’s practice because of what the team listed as illness.

The Steelers will practice once more, on Friday, in advance of Sunday’s divisional road game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
