Kickoff time set for 2025 Backyard Brawl
The 108th version of the Backyard Brawl will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, in Morgantown, the ACC announced Thursday.
Pitt and West Virginia will renew their football rivalry in front of a national audience on ESPN.
The Panthers will open the season against Duquesne at noon Aug. 30 at Acrisure Stadium. The game will be televised on the ACC Network. It’s the teams’ first meeting since Oct. 21, 1939.
The next week, Pitt will host Central Michigan at noon Sept. 6. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
Times and television designations for Pitt’s remaining schedule — Louisville (Sept. 27), Boston College (Oct. 4), at Florida State (Oct. 11), at Syracuse (Oct. 18), N.C. State (Oct. 25), at Stanford (Nov. 1), Notre Dame (Nov. 15), at Georgia Tech (Nov. 22) and Miami (Nov. 29) — will be announced at a later date.
A record 12 ACC games will be played on Fridays. The ACC championship game is set for 8 p.m. Dec. 6 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
“As we get ready to kick off the 2025 ACC football season, the level of competition across the conference has never been higher,” ACC commissioner Jim Phillips said in a statement. “Our programs are embracing a schedule that ranks among the toughest in the nation, highlighted by marquee nonconference matchups and a deep, dynamic conference slate.”
West Virginia will open its season against Robert Morris at 2 p.m. Aug. 30 at Milan Puskar Stadium. The first matchup between the schools will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Mountaineers then will head to Ohio University on Sept. 6 for a 4 p.m. matchup on ESPNU.
West Virginia also announced its Oct. 3 game at BYU will be played on a Friday night at 10:30 and will be televised on ESPN.
The Mountaineers’ remaining schedule, with times and network partners to be determined, includes games at Kansas (Sept. 20), vs. Utah (Sept. 27), at UCF (Oct. 18), vs. TCU (Oct. 25), at Houston (Nov. 1), vs. Colorado (Nov. 8), at Arizona State (Nov. 15) and vs. Texas Tech (Nov. 29).
