La Roche turned to a former Seton Hill player and offensive-minded assistant to lead its men’s lacrosse program.

The university announced the hiring of Cody Golon as its head coach.

A former assistant at Peters Township High School and a Baldwin grad, Golon was an assistant at Seton Hill the past two seasons, serving as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2019 when the Griffins went 12-5 and won the Great Midwest Conference regular season title and made the NCAA playoffs.

Seton Hill was 6-0 this season when the covid-19 outbreak forced the cancellation of the spring season.

As an attacker, the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Golon helped Seton Hill reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

“My overall goal is to provide the best experience possible for the student-athletes and to put them in positions to be successful academically, athletically and socially,” Golon said. “I am anxious and eager to meet the players virtually and when they return to campus in August.”
