The last scheduled game between old rivals Pitt and Penn State will be nationally televised by ABC and will begin at noon Sept. 14 at Beaver Stadium.
The game is the last of a four-game series between the schools. Penn State won two of the first three, 33-14 in 2017 at Beaver Stadium, and 51-6 last year at Heinz Field. Pitt won, 42-39, in 2016 at home.
Penn State leads the all-time series, 52-43-4, dating to 1893.
The Penn State game is Pitt’s only road contest among its first five games. The Panthers will open the season at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 against ACC Coastal opponent Virginia, followed by a non-conference game at 11 a.m. Sept. 7 against Ohio of the MAC. Pitt also will be play non-conference home games against Central Florida and Delaware Sept. 21 and 28. Those start times have not been announced.
Penn State’s first three games are against Idaho (3:30 p.m., Aug. 31, Big Ten Network), Buffalo (7:30 p.m., Sept. 7, FOX) and Pitt, all at Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions will open Big Ten play at 8 p.m. Sept. 27 on FSI at Maryland. They play Purdue at home at noon Oct. 5. That game will be televised on one of the ABC/ESPN platforms.
