Of the nine inductees in the 2020 Penn State Behrend Athletics Hall of Fame class, five have ties to the WPIAL.

The class will be honored in the spring.

The honorees who first made their mark in the WPIAL include:

Kayla Frost — The 2010 graduate out of Peters Township was one of the top soccer goalkeepers to play at Behrend. She was a three-time All-AMCC pick and helped the Lions win regular season and conference titles in 2006 and ‘07. Her 344 saves rank second in program history.

• Brooke Gallentine Muralo — Another 2010 graduate who was a standout at Southmoreland, Gallentine was a four-year starter in volleyball and led the Lions to three ECAC Tournament trips, which included a title in ‘08. She had 4,170 assists in her career, second all-time at Behrend.

Andy Iams — A Penn-Trafford product and 2010 Behrend grad, Iams was a three-sport athlete in Erie from 2006-09. He is one of 30 athletes to earn all-conference honors all four years. He helped Behrend to three AMCC titles in cross country and was a Mason-Dixon champion in the 10,000-meter run in track.

Ahmad Salim — A 2009 grad out of Seneca Valley, Salim was a star soccer player and made all-conference three times. Behrend won the 2007 AMCC championship and made the NCAA Tournament with him in the lineup. He had 26 points as a senior and finished with 32 career goals and 70 points, both school records.

Robert Wittman — A Penn Hills alum, Wittman spent almost three decades as the coordinator of intramurals and recreational programs and facilities coordinator at Behrend. He managed the Junker Center and also spent nine years as an assistant women’s basketball coach.

The other inductees are Josh Fyffe (2010, baseball), Kevin Gorny (2010, cross country, track), Joe Nelson (2010, golf), and Sheila Ogden (2010, volleyball),

Six 10th-year anniversary AMCC Championship teams along with the 2010 ECAC men’s basketball title-winning team also will be recognized.
