Zach Kokoska is burning up the Northwest League as he makes inroads to his dream of playing in the majors.

The former Latrobe and Kansas State baseball star has been on an offensive tear of late, hitting safely in 14 of his last 18 games for the High-Class A Spokane Indians.

In May, he is slashing .369/.481/.831 and has 24 hits, including seven home runs and nine doubles, with 19 RBIs and 15 runs for the Colorado Rockies’ affiliate.

Kokoska, a first baseman who also has played in the outfield, hit his ninth home run of the season Sunday.

He was leading the Northwest League in batting average (.347), and his home run total ranked him tied for second.

He was tied for fourth with 24 RBIs.

Assigned to Spokane in April, Kokoska signed with the Rockies in July, 2021, after the team drafted him in the 10th round.
