Latrobe graduate Jake Biss capped his Shippensburg career by earning first-team All-PSAC East.

By the time the second week of August rolls around and summer starts to wind toward fall, Jake Biss will also be ready to change seasons — and uniforms.

He will be on his way to The Netherlands to begin his professional basketball career.

Biss, a former Latrobe and Shippensburg standout guard, has signed a one-year contract to play for the Den Helder Suns club in Den Helder, just outside of Amsterdam.

The Suns play in the BNXT League, which fields teams from Belgium and The Netherlands. The 21-team league has been around for one season, making its debut in 2021-22.

The BNXT League was formed by the merger of Belgian and Dutch pro leagues.

“It means a whole lot,” Biss said of extending his career beyond college. “It’s been a childhood dream to play professionally and being able to say I’m a professional basketball player now is a pretty cool feeling.

“I’m excited to head over there and get started.”

Biss recently signed with agents Jan Lugtenberg and Misch Engel, who are with Court Side based in Europe.

He averaged 16.9 points, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals, while shooting 38% from 3-point range in his final season at Shippensburg.
