Lernerville racing officials hoped to start the 2020 season Friday, but despite Butler County preparing to move into the yellow phase of economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, they announced Wednesday that opening night at the speedway has again been postponed.

The Tomson family, owners and managers of the speedway, and track officials said they have made progress with those at the local, county and state levels as to how to safely proceed with reopening the track at the appropriate time.

The next date for a possible opening night is May 22 with Tony Stewart’s All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprints and 305 RaceSaver Sprints followed by a pair of Fab4 Revved Up with Marburger nights tentatively set for May 29 and June 5.

It also was announced last week that the Pad the Purse money — $2,000 from April 24 and another $2,000 from last Friday’s postponed event — will be deferred to four special Fab4 events on the schedule. Those dates are opening night, the midseason championships (June 19), Christmas in July (July 10) and championship night (Aug. 21).

The latest announcements for postponed events and other schedule updates can be found at Lernerville’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and also at Lernerville.com.
