Persistent rain forced a postponement of the Thursday portion of the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville Speedway to Friday.

The rain started as an intermittent drizzle during heat races, but it became heavier prior to the scheduled twin 25 lap main events.

Thursday’s features are scheduled to be run Friday starting with hot laps at 11:30 a.m. prior to a full program Friday night.

There were 51 cars entered for the race, and the field was split into two groups.

Jonathan Davenport fastest in Group A and overall at 15.155 seconds. Spencer Hughes fastest in group B at 15.494.

Davenport, Mason Zeigler and Brandon Overton took the Group A heat races. Tim McCreadie, Cody Overton and Hudson O’Neal won the Group B heats.

Darrell Lanigan was fastest in qualifying of the 56 RUSH crate late models entered with a time of 16.942.

The crate late models will run heats Friday for Saturday’s $20,000-to-win Bill Emig Memorial.
