Linebacker Elias Reynolds leaves Pitt team
Elias Reynolds, a junior middle linebacker who hasn’t played since Pitt’s third game of the season, has left the team, a source told Trib Total Media.
Reynolds started seven games last season, but was benched for the Sun Bowl after recording seven tackles against Clemson in the ACC Championship game.
He competed with Chase Pine and Saleem Brightwell through training camp this year and opened the season in the starting lineup.
Through three games, he recorded eight tackles, including a half-sack each in the Virginia and Penn State games, and one quarterback hurry. He missed the next six games, however, while Brightwell started at middle linebacker.
Reynolds was ranked as a two-star recruit by Rivals.com after a high school career at Brooklyn (N.Y.) Poly Prep.
