Lombardi voted to IUP men's basketball all-decade team
Dante Lombardi, an Indiana native and 2015 Kiski School graduate, has earned inclusion on Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s men’s basketball 2010s All-Decade Team, the university announced Thursday.
He is a member of the five-player second team.
The 2019 Crimson Hawks graduate earned National Association of Basketball Coaches All-Atlantic District honors after a 2018-19 season that saw IUP go 30-3 overall, 19-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, win the PSAC Tournament and go 1-1 at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships.
Lombardi is a four-time PSAC honoree, and he was recognized as the 2016 Western Division Freshman of the Year. That season, he played in all 29 games with 13 starts and averaged 8.8 points per game, collected 85 assists and connected on 48 3-pointers.
He is the only player in program history with 1,600 points and 500 assists.
Lombardi holds the program record with 567 assists, and he scored 1,603 points.
He also is third all-time with 273 3-pointers made and fifth with 187 steals.
The 10 members of the first and second teams were assembled by the IUP sports information office with the help of the coaching staff and local basketball media.
In the decade, the IUP program led the PSAC in wins (259), division titles (nine) and tournament championships (four). The Crimson Hawks finished eight seasons ranked in the top 25, earned eight NCAA tournament berths and advanced to the 2015 Division II national title game.
