The matriarch of the Loyola Chicago men’s basketball team will be in the building for their NCAA tournament game Friday.
Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, the Ramblers’ team chaplain, will travel to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to watch Loyola take on Georgia Tech, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The Midwest region first round matchup tips off at 4 p.m. Friday on TBS.
Sister Jean, 101, became a beloved pop culture star during the Ramblers’ 2018 run in the NCAA tournament where the team reached the Final Four as an 11 seed before losing to Michigan.
Per the Chicago Tribune, Sister Jean has not attended a Ramblers game this year due to covid-19 restrictions and has been fully vaccinated.
“I’m not going to run down on the court and I’m not going to cause any disturbance,” Sister Jean said last week.
