Coach Mike Tomlin said the Pittsburgh Steelers emerged from their idle week with a healthy roster. Wednesday’s practice proved it.
The official league-mandated injury report was about as clean as it has been all season. It included two players recently activated off of the injured reserve list — running back Anthony McFarland and offensive tackle Zach Banner — who each practiced fully in their first game-week practices of the season following recoveries from torn knee ligaments.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger remains on the list because of pectoral and hip injuries that have been ailing him all season but have yet to force him to miss any time. Similarly, receiver Chase Claypool has been dealing with a hamstring injury that has not prevented him from playing in recent weeks. Roethlisberger and Claypool were limited at practice Wednesday.
That left veteran linebacker Melvin Ingram III as the lone player to be affected at practice by a new injury. Ingram, who is listed with a groin ailment, was limited at practice.
The Steelers are scheduled to play at the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
