Mercer wins state Mid-Am in a playoff

Mitch Mercer took advantage of playing at his home course to capture the 26th Pennsylvania Golf Associations Mid-Am Championship on Tuesday at The Longue Vue Club.

Mercer and Jimmy Ellis on Peters Township each finished the two-round tournament by shooting a 2-under-par 138. Mercer then won the title in a playoff.

Ian Bangor of Montour Heights Country Club placed third with a 1-under 139.

Tying for fourth place were Anthony DeGol of Scotch Valley Country Club in Hollidaysburg and Chartiers Country Club’s Erick Bertrand. They shot an even-par 140.
