Penn State coach James Franklin wants Beaver Stadium to host high school football state championship games.

Penn State’s annual game with Michigan, which could feature two Top 20 teams on national television, will be contested in prime time Oct. 19 at Beaver Stadium. It will be televised by ABC.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. It is also Penn State’s annual White Out game.

Penn State (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) is No. 10 in the Associated Press poll while Michigan (4-1, 2-1) is No. 16. The Nittany Lions travel to No. 17 Iowa (4-1, 1-1) on Saturday for a game that also will be televised by ABC. The Wolverines visit Illinois (2-3, 0-2).

Penn State and Michigan have met every year since 2013 in Big Ten games. Penn State has won only eight of 22 in the all-time series, but five of those victories were at Beaver Stadium. Michigan was Penn State’s White Out opponent in 2017, and the Nittany Lions won, 42-13. Michigan prevailed last season in Ann Arbor, 42-7.

After Michigan, Penn State has only two remaining home games — Nov. 15 against Indiana and Nov. 30 against Rutgers.
