With one word, coach Mike Tomlin ended any speculation that he might change offensive coordinators during the Pittsburgh Steelers’ bye week.

“No,” Tomlin said when asked Wednesday whether any staff changes were forthcoming.

He did not elaborate.

Second-year offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s job performance has come under question with the 2-6 Steelers averaging the fewest points in the NFL this season at 15.0 per game.

The offense has produced 10 touchdowns in eight games behind quarterback Mitch Trubisky and rookie Kenny Pickett, and running back Najee Harris is averaging 3.3 yards per carry and has just 361 rushing yards at the break.

Although Tomlin said he isn’t changing coordinators, he said he remains “open to doing whatever is required to be better. We’ve got a lot of planning as it pertains to our next matchup.”

The Steelers don’t play again until Nov. 13 against the New Orleans Saints.

Tomlin put his players through a workout Wednesday before releasing them for the weekend. Per the collective bargaining agreement, players are required to have a four-day break during the bye. Steelers players won’t return until Monday when a “bonus” day of practice is held.

Coaches on Tomlin’s staff won’t have such a lengthy break.

“Even though the field work is done, we still have some more work days ahead of us in the bye week,” Tomlin said. “We’ll continue to gather that information and let that information be a component of our next plan and subsequent plans to follow.

“The most important one is the next one.”
