Minor league report: Alex D’Orio leads Penguins past Monsters

Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 31 saves on 32 shots and led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 5-1 home win against the Cleveland Monsters at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Monday.

Forward Felix Robert had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (14-16-1-3), which has won three consecutive games while defenseman Cam Lee recorded two assists.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the rival Hershey Bears on Tuesday, 7 p.m.

Forward Justin Almeida, a Penguins prospects, scored the Wheeling Nailers’ lone goal in a 2-1 home loss to the Iowa Heartlanders at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va. on Sunday.

Goaltenders Stefanos Lekkas made 16 saves on 18 shots for Wheeling (18-16-1-0).

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Wednesday, 7:35 p.m.
