Minor league report: Alex Nylander, Drew O’Connor carry Penguins to win

Forwards Alex Nylander and Drew O’Connor each had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-1 home win against the Hartford Wolf Pack at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Defenseman Juuso Riikola recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (25-23-4-4) while forwards Jonathan Gruden and Filip Hallander each contributed a goal. Goaltender Louis Domingue made 33 saves on 35 shots in the victory.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Syracuse Crunch on Friday, 7:05 p.m.

Forward Sam Houde had a goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-2 home loss to the Reading Royals at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Wheeling (30-24-1-0) got two assists by forward Justin Almeida while goaltender Brody Claeys made 26 saves on 29 shots in the defeat.

Highlights:

The Nailers next game is a road contest against the Indy Fuel on Friday, 7 p.m.
