Minor league report: Alexander Nylander leads Penguins to overtime win

Two goals by forward Alex Nylander, including one in overtime, led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-2 comeback home win against the Toronto Marlies at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Forward Valtteri Puustinen contributed a goal and two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (13-16-1-3) while defenseman Juuso Riikola added two assists. Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 22 saves on 24 shots in the victory.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Cleveland Monsters on Monday, 7:05 p.m.

Forwards Nick Hutchison and Patrick Watling each had a goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-2 home loss to the Iowa Heartlanders at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.

Goaltender Stefanos Lekkas made 19 saves on 22 shots for Wheeling (18-15-1-0).

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Heartlanders on Sunday, 4:10 p.m.
