Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Avery Hayes battles for position against Hershey Bears Andrew Perrott in front of goaltender Hunter Shepard during a game at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. The Penguins won in overtime, 3-2.

A goal by forward Avery Hayes at 2:09 of overtime gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 3-2 win against the rival Hershey Bears at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Forward Atley Calvert scored both regulation goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (34-18-7-1) while goaltender Sergei Murashov made 24 saves on 26 shots to keep his American Hockey League record unblemished at 10-0-0.

Murashov set a team record for longest winning streak by a rookie goaltender. That mark was previously held by Matt Murray (2014-15).

Highlights:

Penguins forward Sam Poulin was not in the lineup as he was serving a one-game suspension for a slew-footing incident that happened during a 10-2 home loss to the Providence Bruins on Friday.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday, 3 p.m.

Goaltender Jaxon Castor made 24 saves on 30 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 6-2 loss to the Toledo Walleye at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio.

The result dropped Castor’s record to 5-6-1.

Defenseman Isaac Belliveau and forward Matthew Querica each scored goals for Wheeling (36-21-3-1).

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Indy Fuel on Sunday, 4 p.m.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
