Minor league report: Colin White, Penguins beat Checkers

A goal and an assist by forward Colin White helped the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeat the Charlotte Checkers, 4-1, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Forwards Corey Andonovski and Peter Abbandonato each recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (16-11-3-0) while forwards Matt Filipe and Alex Nylander as well as defenseman Will Butcher each contributed a goal.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 30 saves on 31 shots, improving his record to 9-4-2.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Checkers on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.
