Forward Emil Bemstrom had a hat trick and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-1 win against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Linemate Ville Koivunen recorded four assists while defenseman Mac Hollowell contributed a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (22-10-4-0).

Goaltender Tristan Jarry made 16 saves on 17 shots as his American Hockey League record improved to 5-2-0.

Penguins defenseman Owen Pickering was in the lineup one day after being assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and opened the contest on the left side of the third pairing

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Hershey Bears on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.


Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 35 saves on 37 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-1 loss to the Kansas City Mavericks at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

The result dropped Gauthier’s record to 8-5-0.

Forward Jordan Martel scored the lone goal for Wheeling (27-10-2-0).
