Minor league report: Filip Larsson, Penguins shut out Phantoms

Goaltender Filip Larsson made 41 saves and recorded his first shutout of the season, leading the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-0 win against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the PPL Center in Allentown on Saturday.

The victory boosted Larsson’s record to 1-1-0 while forward Sam Poulin recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (3-1-0-0). Forwards Emil Bemstrom, Boris Katchuk and Joona Koppanen all scored goals.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Syracuse Crunch on Friday, 7 p.m.


Goaltender Jaxon Castor made 29 saves on 32 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-1 loss to the Maine Mariners at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine.

Forward Sam Houde scored the lone goal for Wheeling (1-1-0-0).

Highlights:

The Nailers next game is a road contest against the Reading Royals on Oct. 26, 7 p.m.
