Minor league report: Filip Lindberg leads Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to win in debut

In his professional debut, goaltender Filip Lindberg made 30 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and led them to a 2-1 home win in their season opener against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton forward Valtteri Puustinen scored a power-play goal in his North American debut while defenseman Niclas Almari scored the game-winning goal.

Highlights:

During the contest, referee Katie Guay became the first woman to serve as an on-ice official for an American Hockey League (AHL) game.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Charlotte Checkers on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.
